City centre street reopened after safety fears over 'unsafe building'

A city centre street has been reopened after it was closed last night due to safety fears.

As reported by Glasgow Live, emergency services rushed to Ingram Street just before 8pm (Saturday, September 14) amid reports of an unsafe building.

A pane of glass from the top level of the glass building which houses the Emporio Armani store had fallen onto the street, prompting Glasgow City Council,  Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to enforce safety measures.

A police spokesman confirmed that officers were on the scene and that the road was closed in both directions between Queen Street and South Frederick Street.

For pedestrians, there was no access between Queen Street and Hanover Street.

The road was reopened in both directions at 11.55pm.
