A GLASGOW street has been locked down with the bomb squad currently in attendance.

Police say a "suspected ordnance" has been discovered in a garden on Banavie Road, in the city's West End.

A cordon has been put in place with fire and police services in attendance along with EOD (bomb disposal team).

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.05pm on Tuesday, September, 12 2023, police were called to a property in Banavie Road, Glasgow, following the discovery of suspected ordnance in a back garden.

"The EOD are on their way and a cordon is in place.

"People in surrounding properties have been evacuated as a precaution until the item can be safely disposed of."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 1.32pm on Tuesday, September 12, operations control was called to assist emergency service partners at an incident on Banavie Road, Glasgow and mobilised two appliances to the scene."
