City centre street closed next weekend for Queen Street station works

A key street within Glasgow city centre is to be closed next weekend to facilitate ongoing works to Queen Street railway station.

West George Street will be shut down, from Nelson Mandela Place to George Square, while Anchor Lane, between St Vincent Place and West George Street, will also be closed.

Traffic will be unable to use the street from a minute past midnight on Saturday morning (September 12) until 6am on Monday morning.

Diversions will be in place.

Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management team (TRAFFCOM) have confirmed: "In order to undertake resurfacing works associated with the Queen Street rail station development it will be necessary to close West George Street, from Nelson Mandela Place to George Square, and Anchor Lane, from St Vincent Place to West George Street, from Saturday 12 September 2020 (0001hrs) until Monday 14 September 2020 (0600hrs).

"Delays can be expected."
