A city centre department store was closed by police after concerns were raised for the safety of a woman inside.
Shoppers and staff were asked to leave TK Maxx on Church Street this afternoon while emergency services responded to the incident.
Merseyside Police were called to the scene shortly before midday to reports that a woman had suffered an injury to her neck.

A cordon was put in place outside the store as staff were reportedly seen in tears as they exited the building.
A police spokesperson said: "We can confirm patrols are currently at TK Maxx on Church Street, Liverpool city centre, following reports of concern for the safety of a woman in the store.
"Officers were called at 11.50am today, Thursday 26th August, following reports the woman had suffered an injury to her neck. It is believed the injury was self-inflicted.
"Emergency services are currently at the scene and all staff and customers have been removed from the store while the incident is dealt with.
"The woman has been taken to hospital for treatment for her injury."
