City centre road to close for filming of new Channel 4 show

Film crews will descend on a city centre street next month to shoot a new comedy drama for Channel 4.

The Curse is new crime-comedy drama set in London during the early 80's and follows a gang of small time crooks who find themselves involved in one of the biggest gold heists in history.

The series, from the award-winning teams behind People Just Do Nothing and Murder In Successville, will consist of six 30 minute episodes.

According to a letter sent to residents in the area, filming will take place along Ormond Street between Old Hall Street and Bixteth Street between 2pm and 8pm on Monday, September 20.

The letter from Tiger Aspect Productions said: "We are aware that we are visitors to the area and we would like to know in advance if you have any concerns or any help you can offer.

"We will look at parking all of our technical vehicles along Old Hall Street and Bixteth Street and will suspend these bays from the morning of September 20.

"We will also have a road closure along Ormond Street between Old Hall Street & Bixteth Street between the hours of filming but will maintain vehicle and pedestrian access to residents and businesses."

Tiger Aspect Productions are working alongside the Liverpool Film Office, Liverpool City Council and Merseyside Police to finalise plans for the road closure.

The Curse stars Allan Mustafa, Steve Stamp, Hugo Chegwin and Tom Davis.
