City centre road to be transformed into 1890's set for Netflix show

Netflix are set to resume filming The Irregulars, after an actress' injury forced the production to be postponed.

The series suffered a filming setback in January when the lead actress suffered a fall on the cobbles and injured her face while filming in the business district.

She was checked over at hospital while the crew shut down filming and informed residents in the area they'd have to come back for a reshoot.

In a letter sent to residents of the Albany Apartments on Old Hall Street, a spokesperson for the show's production company said that filming on Ormond Street had been abandoned due to an accident on set.

The letter said: "Due to unforeseen circumstances during our filming on Tuesday 21st January, we were unable to film on Ormond Street.

"Unfortunately during our filming last night, our leading actress had an accident and we were unable to complete our scheduled filming.

"We will, therefore, be returning to Ormond Street for a reshoot."

And now producers have set the date for their return to Ormond Street for the reshoot.

A letter to residents seen by the ECHO said: "As many of you know our planned filming on Ormond Street earlier this year was cancelled and had to be rescheduled.

"I am now writing to inform you that filming will now be taking place on Tuesday March 10 from 7pm to Midnight.

"Our art department will be 'dressing' the street in order to make it match our desired time period of the 1890's from Tuesday morning and will re-instate the street the following day."

The letter went onto say there will be technical vehicles parked on Old Hall Street, Bixteth Street and Edmund Street on Tuesday, including a cherry picker to help create a "moonlight" affect.

The Irregulars is a spin-off of Arthur Conan-Doyle's much loved Sherlock Holmes series.

The new series will follow a group of street urchins, known as the Baker Street Irregulars, who use their crime solving skills to help a delinquent interpretation of Holmes while the famed detective takes credit.

The show will have the Baker Street Irregulars working with Dr Watson, helping to save London from supernatural elements.

The series is expected to be filming until May 2020 across several different locations.
