City centre 'incident’ causes delays to Edinburgh trams

Commuters are being warned that travel on Edinburgh’s tram network has been disrupted this morning.

Confused passengers were left waiting on city-centre platforms after Edinburgh Trams said their service had been disrupted by an ‘incident’.

The warning came at about 8.30am today (Tuesday September 29) as the official Edinburgh Trams twitter account reported an ‘incident’ in the city centre was affecting the service.

UPDATE: Edinburgh Trams have said that normal service has now been resumed.

The company said: “Due to an incident in the city centre, service frequency may be affected. Sorry for any inconvenience.”

One commuter responded saying: "Oh well just bought a ticket and then noticed this issue. Hopefully a tram will be here soon."

The exact nature of the incident is still unclear, Edinburgh Live have contacted police for more information and we will update this story when we hear back.
