City centre hostel sealed off by police amid ongoing incident by River Clyde

Police have locked down a street and hostel in the city centre following a frantic search for a person in the River Clyde earlier this morning.

Officers remain on the scene outside the Euro Hostel on Clyde Street.

Sections of the nearby walkway to the river were also taped off.

Glasgow Live that emergency crews rushed to the banks of the Clyde in the early hours of this morning.

A police rescue mission was launched at around 4am close to the Riverboat Casino.

Search crews scoured the Clyde in vain for over two hours but no one was found in the search

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire crews attended the scene at around 4am to assist in the search.

The hostel is currently closed off (Glasgow Live)

"Emergency services attended and searched the area but no one was rescued."
