City centre Greggs shuts due to staff shortages

A Greggs bakery in the city centre has had to shut due to staff shortages.

The branch in Lister Gate will be closed all week.

A sign on the door, spotted Monday October 25, explains the reasoning behind its closure is due to staffing issues.

Greggs has said it plans to open around 100 new stores by the end of the year after a rebound in sales helped return the chain to profit.

The new stores are expected to create around 500 new jobs in the second half of the year.

The high street bakery has said it has an opportunity to grow to 3,000 stores.

Greggs has been approached for a comment on the Lister Gate closure.
