City centre Chinese restaurant Ho Wong announces shock closure as 'multi million pound offices' move in

A city centre restaurant beloved of hoards of Glaswegians has announced it will close its doors for the last time next weekend.

Ho Wong on York Street was considered a Glasgow institution by many and was famed for its banquet menu and unfussy decor.

Posting a goodbye note outside the venue, staff at Ho Wong thanked customers for their "continued support throughout 33 years of trading".

The emotional post read: “We are sad to announce and with regret that The Ho Wong Restaurant will be closing their doors to the

"This is is due to the re-development of new multi million pound offices be built within this site.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their continued support throughout our 33 years of trading."

Management confirmed with Glasgow Live that Ho Wong would close it's doors for the last time next Saturday.

Hurry along this week to say goodbye to staff and the legendary food - both will be sorely missed.
