City centre blaze avoided after automatic fire alarm alerts Dublin Fire Brigade

Dublin Fire Brigade have prevented a city centre fire after reports of a portable oil lamp and sheet catching fire in a building on Friday evening.

Firefighters from Donnybrook attended an automatic fire alarm in Dublin city centre following reports of smoke issuing from a building.

Crew members wearing specialist breathing apparatus discovered that a sheet had fallen onto a portable oil heater.

Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted at 11.19pm: "Firefighters from Donnybrook attended an automatic fire alarm with reports of smoke issuing near the city centre.

"Breathing Apparatus crews discovered a sheet had fallen on to a portable oil heater. A fire was prevented and the smoke was cleared by a positive ventilation fan."
