City centre bar Folk closes suddenly after three years

A popular bar and restaurant in Liverpool's commercial district has suddenly shut its doors.

Folk on Tithebarn Street served up breakfast, lunch and dinner with beers, wines, cocktails and coffee and was the place to go for a relaxed, informal drink.

The bar and restaurant in the Tempest building featured outdoor and indoor seating and regularly hosted a range of events taking place in the basement, including art exhibitions and gigs.

The Folk Facebook page now says permanently closed and in an email received from the Folk team, staff said they were very sorry and it had come as a surprise to them.

The statement read: "Hello folks, we are very sorry to have to say this, but after a lovely three years in the business district FOLK has had to close it's doors for the final time.

"This has come very sudden and has surprised us all, but unfortunately this decision was beyond our control. We want to thank all the lovely people who visited us over these years, we hope to meet you again.

"However, we will still do our best to help and if you have any event or booking enquiries our friends at The Baltic Social may be able to help.

Sign up to the What's On newsletter- packed with brilliant things to see and do in Liverpool and beyond.

"You can contact them on 0151 707 1137 or  thebalticsocial@gmail.com and say we sent you. Peace be the journey, Team FOLK."

The statement gave no formal reason for why the business had closed.
