City blooms back to life with Manchester Flower Show

Manchester city centre has come alive with a trail of vibrant floral displays with the return of Manchester Flower Show.

Balconies, public squares, phone boxes and doorways have been decorated with flowers and foliage to mark the first public event of the year.

Manchester Flower Show, which began on Saturday (May 31), will run until Sunday (June 6).

It includes a floral tribute to the carers on the frontline during the pandemic at St Ann's Square and a bee-themed floral installation at the Arndale.

Visitors can also admire a floral light sculpture named Seed of Change at King Street, while flower shop Flourish has transformed the Medlock Steps at Deansgate Square with an installation of four floral towers.

To mark the occasion, bars across the city are taking part in the Manchester Flower Show Cocktail Trail.

Customers can enjoy the Bouquet cocktail at Atomeca and Sky Garden beverage at Cloud 23.

The Manchester Flower and Produce Show started life in the 1950s in Platt Fields Park.

It was brought to the city centre in 2018.
