City analyst makes Celtic Paris Saint-Germain claim over huge finances

A top analyst believes Celtic should have the same market value as Paris Saint-Germain, calling the Parkhead club a 'big fish in a small pond'.

The Hoops share price has more than doubled in the space of two years as the Premiership champions continue their success on and off the field.

Celtic are in a healthy financial position selling the likes of Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney for mega fees in recent years.

The Parkhead side might have missed out on a Champions League windfall the past two campaigns, but that hasn't stopped their value from skyrocketing.

Celtic have pocketed more than £3m for their exploits in the Europa League this season as they advanced to the last 32 as group winners against Rennes on Thursday night.

And Nigel Parson, an analyst at Canaccord, believes they have the potential to reach the heights of Qatari-owned PSG.

He also insisted their value would go through the roof if they were to ever to make the move to the Premier League.

He told the Evening Standard : "There is huge asset price inflation for sporting franchisees at the moment. Celtic is a big fish in a small pond. Its fanbase is enormous and its stadium is filled week after week.

“I don’t think the club is any different to Qatari-owned Paris Saint-Germain, which dominates domestically and plays in the Champions League.”
