With Cook County Court hearings pushed back because of the coronavirus pandemic, Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown’s office has expanded its electronic services to help people track down information for their pending cases.
Those with pending cases can go to the office’s website at CookCountyClerkofCourt.org to view a list of email addresses and phone numbers associated with the various divisions of the court system to obtain information, including criminal cases.
Brown said individuals can also use the office’s free mobile app, Court Clerk Mobile Connect, to get information about their cases in suburban districts, traffic court, Domestic Relations, Probate, Chancery, Law, County and Civil divisions.
Criminal case information, however, will not be available online or through the app. Defendants in those cases are encouraged to reach out to their public defender or private defense attorney to obtain information.
“It is vitally important to continue to provide convenient access to justice for the public under current COVID- 19 social-distancing restrictions,” Brown said in a statement Tuesday.
Chief Judge Timothy Evans last week announced that he will extend the court’s modified schedule through July 6, halting many cases out of concern over the spread of the coronavirus.
