Cinemagic welcomes legendary actress Hayley Mills to Belfast

Cinemagic welcomed legendary actress Hayley Mills to Belfast for a day of special events as part of the 30 Anniversary Cinemagic Festival including a sold-out screening of classic movie Whistle Down The Wind in Queen’s Film Theatre and a special screening of The Parent Trap in No Alibis Bookstore, where young people heard about the behind the scenes of making the movie and the fun and challenges of playing identical twin sisters.

Hayley participated in an ‘in conversation’ Q&A with Brian Henry Martin ahead of the screening of Whistle Down The Wind, at which she talked about her long and very successful career starring in a multitude of movies such as The Parent Trap, Whistle Down The Wind, Pollyanna, and Tiger Bay- where she was cast opposite her father, the great actor Sir John Mills.

Walt Disney signed her to a five year contract and for her first film for the studio, Pollyanna, she won critical raves, box office success and a special Juvenile Academy Award.

Joan Burney Keatings, Cinemagic CEO said “It was a delight and such an honour to welcome award-winning actress Hayley Mills to Cinemagic, to share her experiences of her long and successful acting career with festival-goers in Belfast. She was an inspiration and gave a fantastic and honest insight to the world of acting and the film industry and we look forward to welcoming her back to Cinemagic.”
