Cinemagoers fear 'permanent psychological damage' after watching 'disturbing' UK horror

A new British horror film has been deemed the 'most disturbing' flick to ever hit the big screen across the UK.

Men, by director Alex Garland, has left some viewers so disturbed that they've legged it from their cinema seats halfway through the horror fest because they feared permanent 'psychological damage' after watching mere minutes of the movie.

The A24 movie comes from the same talented creator of hit movies including Annihilation and Ex Machina - and while it has already received rave reviews, some cinemagoers have been left 'scarred' from watching it.

The terrifying flick follows widow Harper, who is played by Irish actress Jessie Buckley, who flees to the English countryside following the tragic death of her beloved husband.

And while she booked the trip in a bid to escape her sorrow and instead find solace, it soon turns into a unprecedented nightmare as she discovers she has attracted an unwelcome stalker.

As Harper desperately tries to seek out help in the surrounding village, things go from bad to worse as she's preyed on by her darkest fears and memories - as well as the unhelpful and downright creepy residents of the rural village.

The shape-shifting horror film has most definitely left viewers shivering in their boots - with some branding Men one of the most disturbing things they have ever laid eyes on.

" The new #a24 movie is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen," one cinemagoer penned on Twitter.

"Whoever came up with the creepy as hell storyline behind Men should be locked up. I'll never sleep again," someone else echoed.

"I had to leave halfway through watching Men. Hands down the scariest thing I've ever sat through. I'm scared I'll have permanent psychological damage after it lol," another shared.

Meanwhile, a fourth viewer tweeted: "I’ve seen a lot of disturbing, horrifying horror movies, but Men really made me want to walk out the theatre from being so disturbed."
