Cinema giant Odeon has laughed off suggestions that their historic venue in Ayr is closed for good.
Concerns had been raised by cinema lovers when they walked past the venue in Burns Statue Square earlier this week and saw all the lights off.
But the cinema is not closed — and is still entertaining audiences with the latest blockbusters at the weekends.
Ayrshire Live told back in December how the cinema was being lined up as a remote jury centre.
During the week jurors view legal proceedings on the big screen, as opposed to travelling directly to attend cases at Ayr and Kilmarnock Sheriff Courts.
The move was undertaken to help ease the backlog of cases since the UK lockdown and to help prevent the spread of coronavirus locally.
And the cinema is very much operational at the weekend.
An Odeon spokesperson said: “Ayr is very much open and trading Friday, Saturday and Sunday as it is being used by the Scottish courts on the other days and has been for some time.
“There might have been some confusion with booking tickets as there are no showings (during the week).
“Customers just have to click on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday date to see the showtimes.”
The Odeon Ayr has been part of the town’s heritage for decades.
It first opened its doors on July 30, 1938 and the first flick ever shown there was The Prisoner of Zenda, starring Ronald Colman, Douglas Fairbanks Jnr and Madeleine Carroll.
