Feb. 01--Cindy Crawford hinted in a new interview she's retiring from modeling.
"I'm sure I'll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore. And that's OK. I've done it. I've worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do?" Crawford, who turns 50 on Feb. 20, told United Airlines' Hemispheres magazine in an article posted online Saturday. "I can't keep reinventing myself. I shouldn't have to keep proving myself. I don't want to."
Crawford, who grew up in DeKalb and briefly attended Northwestern University, was recently photographed for Balmain's spring campaign. Crawford said her memoir "Becoming," released in September, is helping her move on from her modeling days.
"You spend your teenage years wanting to be older. When are you just happy where you are? Both of my grandmothers are still alive. One is 93 and lives by herself -- but she still calls me for face cream. I wonder if she looks in the mirror and asks, 'Who is that?' I think at your core, you're always you," Crawford said.
"(But) for better or worse, I feel that there is that pressure. I'm out on book tour. I don't look the same that I did 25 years ago, and I don't want to disappoint. Maybe that's the Midwesterner in me. I want them to like me. But when do we just be happy where we are?"
