Cincinnati improved to 8-0 on the season with a 36-33 come-from-behind win on the road against UCF after falling behind 14-3, and the final margin could have been even bigger had the Bearcats punched the ball in for a late touchdown.
UCF kept itself in the game with a 75-yard touchdown drive in the closing minutes, but Cincinnati gradually drove down the field to wind down the clock in the fourth quarter.
The Bearcats had a 1st-and-goal opportunity with just under two minutes left, and running back Gerrid Doaks had a chance for a walk-in touchdown that would have put Cincinnati up two scores. Doaks instead shuffled down the goal line, making sure to stay in bounds and keep the clock running.
The strategy worked for Cincinnati – but nearly backfired on the final play of the game. A bad snap led to a fumble, but UCF was able to fall on the ball after time had expired.

Running the clock out was horrible news for Cincinnati bettors, though, as the line closed at Cincinnati -4. That’s a tough way to lose a bet.
