CIMB Thai Bank (CIMBT) has prepared several options including a search for a new president and chief executive after a Krungthai Bank (KTB) probe into loans to beleaguered Energy Earth Plc (EARTH) led to serious allegations against current head Kittiphun Anutarasoti.
Promotion of current executives to the top jobs is possible, said chairman of the board Chakramon Phasukavanich after a shareholder meeting yesterday.
Mr Kittiphun is taking a voluntary leave of absence until the end of May pending his appeal after KTB's findings alleged he was culpable for misconduct and fraud that benefited himself and others, resulting in huge damage to KTB from loans extended to Energy Earth when he was an executive overseeing corporate banking business during 2013-17.
"Decisions on the positions require input from both Mr Kittiphun and the bank. Mr Kittiphun has shown spirit by taking a leave," said Mr Chakramon.
Omar Siddiq, and executive with CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, has been appointed acting president and chief executive of CIMBT.
