Cilla’s Black’s The Very Best Of album has ended the week in 14th spot in the official charts, as fans buying copies as a tribute give the entertainer her highest charting album in 47 years.

However Black, who passed away on the weekend, was narrowly denied a place in the Top 40 singles chart with Anyone Who Had a Heart placing 41st.

The Official Charts Company said that The Very Best Of hitting 14th position is the entertainer’s first entry in the official album Top 20 in more than 30 years, and her highest charting album since 1968’s Sher-oo.

Anyone Who Had a Heart may have missed being played on the official top 40 countdown on BBC Radio 1 on Friday by the slimmest of margins, but 41st represents the track’s highest chart position in 51 years.

Earlier in the week, the single, written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, hit 39th in the singles chart, the first time Black had a single in the Top 40 since 1974.

The Official Chart Top 100 is revealed at 6pm on Friday, with the Top 40 counted down on BBC Radio 1 from 4pm.
