CIE Hall Inchicore suffers water damage after roof slashed in deliberate attack

A Dublin social club has been left with a lot of internal water damage after its roof was slashed in a deliberate attack.

As the rain poured down over the capital, the CIE Hall Inchicore Sports and Social Club saw its tables, snooker table, chairs, ceiling and walls damaged as water poured down through the roof.

The roof had only recently been repaired.

On inspection, it was discovered that the roof had been slashed seven times.

A spokeswoman for the club's committee said they are now appealing for locals who may have seen anything to get in touch.

She told Dublin Live: "It’s a very sad day for us here at the Inchicore Sports and Social Club, when staff arrived last night they had discovered that the roof had been deliberately damaged which resulted in a lot of internal damage to the bar (tables, snooker table, chairs, ceiling and walls).

"It’s a wanton act, and was unquestionably deliberate!

"If anybody who lives in the West Terrace, Abercorn Square, St Patrick’s Terrace area of the CIE works and has CCTV, any footage would be a great help!

"Or anybody with any information at all please message the page, or contact Kilmainham Garda Station on 01 666 9700!"

A garda spokesman confirmed to Dublin Live that an investigation is underway.

They said: "Gardai are investigating an incident of criminal damage at a sports club in Inchicore that occurred sometime over the month of July 2019.

"The roof of a premises had been significantly damaged. Investigations are ongoing."
