Cider maker Orchard Pig wraps actual pigs in blankets for Christmas

A Somerset cider maker has teamed up with a Bristol farm to wrap actual pigs in blankets.

Orchard Pig and Windmill Hill City Farm are providing woolly blankets to wrap up the pigs during the cold festive season.

The drinks maker is also donating £500 to the farm from the sale of pints in December which will go towards animal conservation.

Zoe Atkinson, brand manager at Orchard Pig, said: "Orchard Pig was born on a farm in the Somerset countryside.

“Fast forward to 2019, and the cider is available in major cities across the UK so this Christmas we wanted to do something that really went back to our roots.

“The team at Windmill Hill City Farm do a fantastic job caring for animals here and given we are vegan and vegetarian certified, we wanted to let people know that there are other ways to get your fix of pigs in blankets this Christmas. This way is much kinder, not to mention much cuter.”

The blankets' design and colours are inspired by Orchard Pig's range of cider drinks, including Reveller, Truffler, and Charmer.

Orchard Pig is known for its stunts, which include building a giant pink wooden pig that people could rent on AirBnB.

Andrew Quinlan founded Orchard Pig, which is based near Glastonbury, in 2007.
