VIJAYAWADA: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) issued notices to Narasapuram MP, K Raghurama Krishna Raju, for appearing before the investigating officer on January 17.
He was summoned to attend in person at CID regional office at Guntur. The CID stated that Raju’s presence was needed in the sedition case registered against him.
Four officials from CID went to Raju’s house at Hyderabad on Wednesday to hand over the notices. The CID had earlier registered a suo moto sedition case after Raju made certain comments in a press conference. He was arrested by CID in that case and allegedly beaten up in the custody.
The issue went up to the Supreme Court and Raju got bail in the case. The CID has now issued fresh notices in the same matter.
Responding on the notices, Raju said that he will attend before the investigation officer on January 17 by following all Covid-19 protocols. He expressed doubts over timing of the notices.
“I have informed West Godavari district collector and SP that I am going to visit the district for Sankranti and the next day I received notices from CID”.
Raju recently announced that he is going to resign as MP and also from YSRC. He said Sankranti is an important festival for Hindus and he was asked to attend during the festival. “The CID officials tortured me like anything in their custody and there were no cameras when I was in custody.”
Criticising the state government, Raju said that the people are fed up with the YSRC government and it is the time to end their rule in the state. He called for unity of the Opposition.
