Ciaran Dickson receives Celtic backing following Rangers move as Tommy McIntyre insists he can 'handle it'

Celtic B team manager Tommy McIntyre believes new recruit Ciaran Dickson has the perfect mentality to successfully cross the divide in Glasgow.

Teenage star Dickson made the move to Celtic Park following his release from city rivals Rangers.

He wasted no time on making a positive impression for himself to those in green and white by scoring a long range goal on his debut for the Celtic B side.

That strike came in Celtic's SPFL Trust Trophy second round defeat to Greenock Morton.

Manager McIntyre believes Dickson has the necessary skills and mentality to be a success for the Hoops following his move from the Gers. He said: "He’s got the personality to handle the move.

“I don’t want to go too much on Ciaran but there have been players in the past on either side who have done that.

“Ciaran made an impact but we need to be careful with him. He’s just come in and I thought he did well. He will get better and better.

“He’s a top player and will be a big acquisition for us. But he’s just come in and we need to give him a bit of time to settle.”

Dickson arrives at Parkhead with a strong reputation from his time at Rangers.

He made one senior appearance for the Ibrox club, coming in a 4-0 victory against Falkirk in the League Cup.

He also enjoyed a loan spell at Queen of the South last season, as well as, being named as a substitute in four of Rangers' Europa League matches.

Dickson was on the bench in matches against Benfica, Standard Liege and Lech Poznan.

A Scotland under-19 international, Dickson also has experience of playing with Rangers in the UEFA Youth League and scored a goal away from home against Young Boys.
