Ciara Mageean has smashed her 1500m personal best in an incredible world final run.
Mageean ran a stunning time of 4:00.15 to place 10th in the race, with Sifan Hassan running a championship record 3:51.95.
The 27-year-old's run edges her just two seconds away from the national record, set by Sonia O'Sullivan back in 1995.
The Portaferry runner became the the first Irish woman to reach a world 1500m final since Sonia O'Sullivan in 1997 when she finished fifth in her semi-final on Thursday.
She ran a time of 4:15.49 and was understandable ecstatic at achieving the milestone.
"I'm over the moon. It's my first World final. I have worked a long time to get to this stage and I may seem ecstatic," Mageean told RTE.
"I still have another race to go, but I ran that saying 'that's going to be my final'.
"To have an Irish vest in a World Championship final - we don't often have it - and I'm absolutely over the moon.
"I planned on not being at the front. Anybody who knows me or watches me racing will know that I'm not a typical frontrunner, especially not in a major championship, so that was a shock."
