Cian Healy and Iain Henderson left bloodied in worrying scenes after nasty clash of heads

Ireland suffered another injury scare against France when Cian Healy and Iain Henderson clashed heads in a nasty collision at the Aviva Stadium.

Both players were left bloodied by the collision and they were replaced by Ed Byrne and Ultan Dillane with Ireland trailing 10-3 early in the second half.

Billy Burns was also replaced after suffering a head injury, just moments before the big clash between Healy and Henderson.

Both players were later deemed fit to continue by medical staff and have since returned to the field.

Head injuries have made headlines of late after Johnny Sexton was ruled out of contention for today's game as he struggled with return to play protocols following a head injury suffered in the defeat to Wales last Sunday.

Andy Farrell is down skipper Sexton, pack leader James Ryan, long-time scrum-half Conor Murray and Munster captain Peter O'Mahony for today's clash.

The spotlight was thrown on Sexton this week by two French neurologists, including Dr Francois Chermann, who later rowed back on his claim that the 35-year-old has had up to 30 concussions - a claim Sexton described as "inaccurate and hurtful".

Ireland boss Farrell said: "Honestly, I thought it stunk on so many grounds. I'll leave it at that."
