Church Road crash: Two people rushed to hospital after serious collision

Two people have been taken to the hospital after a serious crash near St George's Park this morning (June 22). Emergency services were called to Charks Road after reports of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian around 7 am.

The incident caused a number of roads to be cordoned off with traffic and bus services being diverted to alternative routes in the area. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said: "We were called at 7.40 am today (Wednesday 22 June) to Chalks Road, in St George, following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

"The driver and pedestrian have been taken to hospital. The road has been closed outbound on Church Road to the junction with Chalks Road, one lane remains open on the inbound."

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 07.31hrs to a road traffic collision in the Redfield area. We sent a hazardous area response team, an operations officer, an air ambulance and two double-crewed land ambulances. We conveyed one patient to Southmead Hospital and one patient to Bristol Royal Infirmary, both by land ambulance”.

First West of England apologies to customers for the severe delays to a number of services including 42,43,44 and 45. Adding: "So sorry for the issues this may cause on your journey with us today."
