Chulalongkorn University in collaboration with Kasikorn Bank last week announced the launch of "CU Nex" mobile application designed to provide students, lecturers and university staff a platform for connection for all aspects on the campus as part of the university's plan to become a leading institute in the digital lifestyle.

Available both for Apple and Android users, CU Nex app allows students to check classrooms, class schedules, search for e-books from the CU Book Centre, book a space for their own activities and scan a QR code for buying things on campus.

Prof Bundhit Eua-apporn, president of Chulalongkorn University, said at last week's launch event which took place at Siam Square One, that: "As a leading university in Thailand, Chulalongkorn realises the importance of driving the university to the forefront of the world. Therefore, we have tried to find a partner who plays a leading role in digital technology in Thailand to help us in this transitional period towards what we call 'Chula New Era'. With contributions from Kasikorn Bank's technology, we have initiated the CU Nex application to enhance the potential and efficiency of personnel on the campus."

Kattiya Indaravijaya, president of Kasikorn Bank, added: "In the digital world where the banking business is rapidly changing, Kasikorn Bank sees the importance of new service and innovation developments for a better future. Serving 'Beyond Banking' to fulfil customers' needs is our primary goal, and we have integrated our expertise into digital technology, innovations, solutions and data-driven insights. We are delighted to be a part of supporting Chulalongkorn University, a partner who shares our vision -- embracing the digital lifestyle. In this collaboration, we will be providing Chulalongkorn University with our most advanced technologies to create solutions that increase management efficiency, promote digital knowledge for students and staff as well as create an environment that contributes to effective learning and living in the digital age."

Prof Bundhit also said that in order to steer Chulalongkorn University towards a new era of education through technology, three points are taken into consideration: linking every aspect of personnel on the campus, preparing students and staff for the digital age and, streamlining the utilisation of information.

"In the future, the CU Nex app will extend its services by combining digital technologies. This includes developing a Data Hub that employs AI to study students' behaviour and using Business Intelligence [BI] to analyse the information for the development of curriculum and activities. This will drive Chulalongkorn University towards being the figurehead in digital campus lifestyle in Thailand."
