Chuks Aneke's first words after signing for Charlton

Charlton Athletic have confirmed the signing of Chuks Aneke on a two-year deal following the expiration of his contract at Milton Keynes Dons.

The striker scored an impressive 19 goals for the Dons last season, in their promotion back to League one.

Aneke started his career at Arsenal before joining Belgian club Zulte Waregem in 2014, before moving to Stadium MK where he scored 33 goals in 94 appearances.

After signing his deal at the Valley, the 25-year-old spoke of his excitement of playing in front of the Addicks faithful.

"It feels great, I'm delighted to be at such a big club," he told the club's official website.

"I can't wait to get started. I've played at The Valley a few times. You come here, you see the atmosphere, it will be good to come here as a Charlton player."

Manager Lee Bowyer also spoke of his excitement of being able to sign the versatile striker.

"He’s versatile. He can play in the 10-role just behind the strikers, he’s a big physical boy but don’t be fooled by that because he can play," he said.

"His goals and assists that he’s been getting over the last few years is really good and his awareness – he knows when and where to pass – it is exceptional."

Aneke will be able to make his competitive Charlton debut when the Addicks face Blackburn away in the Championship opener on August 3rd.
