A girl was seriously injured in a horrifying attack by an "unknown boy".
A young girl was seriously injured after being pinned against a fence and attacked by an unknown boy. Police were called just after 6pm on Tuesday, July 12 following reports of an assault.
The girl, who was playing on the football pitches at the bottom of Caunce Road in the Scholes area, Wigan, was approached by a boy who pinned her arm against a fence. The boy, believed to be between the ages of 11 and 13, then struck her arm with an unknown object breaking it in two places.

The boy is thought to have ran off towards a wooded area leading to Rose Bridge High School following the assault. He is believed to have been joined by another youth, who was wearing blue shorts, reported the Manchester Evening News.
Detectives from Greater Manchester Police investigating the horror attack are now calling for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact them immediately. The offender is described as being approximately 4ft tall, of chubby build, with dark coloured hair, short at the back and sides with a longer flick at the front. He was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit and is believed to have spoken with an accent not local to Wigan.
