Michigan State’s 2020 quarterback pursuit is an incredibly important one for the future of the team. While Rocky Lombardi showed some promise in his appearances last season, the team doesn’t have a clear starting quarterback of the future. That could change tomorrow as 4-star dual-threat quarterback Chubba Purdy has announced that he will be making his commitment announcement tomorrow.
Michigan State hosted Purdy on an official visit earlier this month along with New Jersey 4-star QB prospect Michael Alaimo. Many thought that Alaimo would be their primary target, but he just announced his intention to go to Purdue recently. Many are speculating that Michigan State could have held their hand on Alaimo because they are more interested in Purdy.
Purdy is a true dual-threat QB (highlights below) and would give Michigan State a weapon that is very different from the traditional pocket passers they have become known to favor. In terms of athleticism, Michigan State probably hasn’t had this dynamic of a quarterback since Damion Terry, who barely played for the team.
