Chronicle Live proud to announce signing of Lee Clark as new pundit

Newcastle United legend Lee Clark has signed for Chronicle Live to write a column on the fortunes of the Magpies this season.

Clark, who made 265 appearances and scored 28 goals for United, is excited about the new era at St James' Park following the arrival of Saudi Arabia's PIF, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers.

Having watched the club from the terraces as a boy he lived the dream of pulling on a black and white jersey before featuring in the club's greatest modern-day X1 with the Entertainers, coming a whisker away from a Premier League title medal in 1996.

As a coach at the club he worked in the reserve ranks and was on the scene as youngsters such as Andy Carroll and Tim Krul burst on to the scene working with managers such as Glenn Roeder, Graeme Souness and Sam Allardyce.

Looking ahead to penning a new column, Clark told the Chronicle: "It's great to be involved with the local paper, the Chronicle, the newspaper I grew up reading as a youngster.

"I was always keen to see the goings on at Newcastle.

"So I'm now delighted to be doing a weekly column and giving fans some insight on what is happening at the football club."

Clark's first column will be available to read on Saturday with a weekly slot of Wednesday to follow.
