Christy Moore classic makes its way to Iranian border thanks to Irish duo's sneaky move on bus

Two Irishmen created an unlikely scene on a bus journey abroad after hacking into the vehicle’s Bluetooth and playing Christy Moore hit ‘Lisdoonvarna’ for all passengers to hear.

A video of the incident was uploaded to Twitter showing the two men proudly smiling as the bus blared out the Irish hit.

Gareth and Darren were travelling in Iran after an excursion to climb Mount Ararat, a peak in Turkey which straddles the Iranian border. They decided to introduce the song to their fellow passengers during a six hour bus journey that was taking them to the airport for their flight home.

The pair's climb did not go according to plan as Gareth was unknowingly sick with COVID-19. He stopped his ascent 4,000 metres after realising he felt unwell. However, Darren was able to successfully reach the summit of Turkey's highest mountain.

While some passengers tapped along to the music, the bus driver reportedly became irritated with the iconic hit and switched it off. Twitter users praised the pair for their hilarious antics.

“If the beat works away ya go. The Persians have a mutual respect for culture and history I'm sure the lads were welcomed with opened arms,” one user wrote.

Another questioned why more travellers did not get out of their seats to dance to the well-known tune.

The video was strongly supported with calls of “Up the Banner” from many viewers.
