A fundraiser has been set up by an Aslan fan in a bid to raise money for Christy Dignam and his family.
Fan Stephen Browne has raised more than €1,600 with his Go Fund Me “Christy Dignam ‘Let’s Give Back’”.
The fundraiser aims to raise enough money to be able to help the Dignam family pay for expenses related to his care, after his family revealed the Crazy World hitmaker was receiving palliative care.

Stephen said that Christy has “always been there for us, showing up to charity events and even funerals of loved ones, and now it is time for us to give back to him and his family.”
The fundraiser reads: “Dear Friends and Fans of Christy Dignam,
“As many of you know, Christy is currently at home receiving palliative care from his family and a dedicated team of healthcare professionals.
“As fans of Christy and knowing the amount of charity work he has done for families and charities across Ireland, I have received numerous requests from fans who would like to donate and show support, the idea to donate their refunded ticket money to Christy and his family was mentioned a number of times.
“Christy has had to cancel many shows across Ireland, including the 3Arena show, which would have been a highlight for both him and fans across Ireland. Despite his declining health, Christy was able to play one last concert in July 2022 as part of his 40th anniversary tour before it had to be stopped.
“We (The Fans) would like to take this opportunity to give back to Christy and his family, as his income has stopped since he was unable to tour due to his cancer.
"Christy has always been there for us, showing up to charity events and even funerals of loved ones, and now it is time for us to give back to him and his family.
“All proceeds from this GoFundMe campaign will go directly to Christy and his family to help with expenses related to his care and other bills they may have.
“We ask that you please keep Christy and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
Stephen signed off the message, writing: “A friend and Fan of Christy since I can remember. This has been approved by the Dignam Family.”
It comes after Christy’s daughter Kiera revealed fans' well wishes and support has given her 62-year-old father a “boost”.
She said on social media: "My Dad just asked me to thank everyone for their support, well wishes and kind words over the last couple of days.
"It has been and will be tough but it’s really given him a boost so thank you all!"
Last week, Christy’s family revealed in a heartbreaking statement on his health status.
“Christy and Kathryn Dignam and their family, daughter Kiera, son in law Darren, and grandchildren, are sharing an update on Christy’s health, in response to the large number of media enquiries received.
"In July 2022, Christy was admitted to Beaumont Hospital and spent the next six months in the care of the Haematology and Cardiac Care team.
"Since December, Christy has been at home and is being cared for lovingly by family, with the support of a palliative care team.
"The Dignam family thanks everyone for keeping Christy in their thoughts and prayers and asks for privacy at this time"
Aslan also released a heartfelt statement in support of the 64-year-old following the statement from the Dignam family.
The band admitted it has been a “tough time” but that Christy as always is their main priority and praised the singer for his strong will, stating “Christy always keeps up his fight and never gives up”.
The band announced that all future shows were effectively cancelled, and thanked their fans for their support during such a difficult time.
"Thank you all, just for being you! You are the most sincere and loyal fans and we know how lucky we are to have you all... We ask that you please respect Christy and his family's privacy at this time."
