Christy Dignam's family gives cheque of €141,000 to St Francis Hospice in his honour

Christy Dignam's family handed over a whopping €141,487 to St Francis Hospice that they raised in the Aslan star's memory.

The Crazy World singer died last month aged 63 following a long-fought health battle. Following his death, Bohemian FC released a Christy tribute jersey which they wore against Shamrock Rovers at Dalymount Park.

Fans were able to purchase the jersey online with the funds going to St Francis Hospice. There were also bucket collections to help the fundraiser.

The family handed over the cheque today and said thanked everyone involved in the campaign to honour Christy's memory. His daughter Kiera wrote on social media: "The final count on what was raised, €141,487 for St Francis Hospice Dublin.

"Thank you again to Dan and all at Bohemian Football Club for the jersey, Shamrock Rovers F.C. for getting on board and supporting bucket collections, Bohs sponsors Des Kelly Interiors for allowing the Aslan logo in their place for this jersey, O'Neills Sportswear for all their work to get the jerseys done, all the volunteers who have helped in the background and to every single person who ordered and supported this whole initiative in my Dads memory.

"We can never thank you enough. Everything is still very raw for us but we were so privileged to hand over the cheque this morning to the hospice and meet with the nurses who helped us. Thank you all love."
