Christy Dignam belts out Aslan classic Crazy World while in hospital ward in heartwarming video

Aslan may have been forced to cancel their gig over the weekend after Christy Dignam's health issues - but people are still remembering his performances.

Christy, 62, who is undergoing treatment for cancer, had been advised by his doctors not to perform on Saturday night at the 3Arena with his band as part of their ‘40 years 40 gigs’ tour to mark their 40th anniversary.

The Dubliner was diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer known as amyloidosis back in 2013 and has undergone several bouts of chemotherapy treatment since.

Although fans will miss him at the 3Arena, we can still look back at one special moment he had in a hospital waiting room.

The singer gave a belting performance of Crazy World for those waiting alongside him when someone broke out a guitar in the hospital.

A video of the heartwarming moment was shared by Tony Groves of The Tortoise Shack, who simply said: "Christy Dignam, you legend."

Christy, from Finglas in Dublin, has spoken out in the past about how his condition has affected his life and his music career saying “it can turn on a sixpence.

“I know I could be gigging on a Saturday night and in hospital on the Monday,” he previously told media outlets.

He told the Irish Sunday Mirror before the gig was cancelled: “About three weeks ago they did a bone marrow biopsy.

“Basically what they do is they get a core of your bone marrow out and they put some of this chemo on it to see if it will kill the amyloid in the bone marrow and this one did, so it was a good candidate.

“If it didn’t work I was f***ed. Up to now you would come in [to the hospital] and recharge your batteries, this time it was different.

“This time it was life or death stuff. I was absolutely terrified this was not going to work, that I was a goner.
