Christopher Jullien thought Neil Lennon was Boris Becker as Celtic boss provides injury update

Celtic ground out a win over Hamilton Accies as Neil Lennon praised them for securing the club's best start to a campaign in NINE seasons.

An early James Forrest goal in Lanarkshire was enough to seal three points and maintain a 100 per cent record in the Premiership.

It's the first time since 2010/11 – when Lennon was previously in charge –that they've won their first five games in the league.

The 1-0 victory over Accies won't be their best display of the season but the Celtic gaffer hailed his players' efforts.

And Lennon also joked that Christopher Jullien thought he was Boris Becker after his head knock at New Douglas Park.

He said afterwards: “It's three points, a very good performance in difficult conditions and five out of five, which we haven't done in a long time at the start of a campaign.

“It's also our third clean sheet in five as well. We're playing very, very well. The only regret today is that we didn't score more.

“But James hit the bar in the second half and with the pitch drying up, it slowed us down.

“Credit to Hamilton, they set their stall out to be hard to beat so it wasn't much of a spectacle.

“It takes two teams to make a game and we made all the running.

“There was no anxiety from us at all and I'm thrilled.

“It's very difficult to win five out of five – because we haven't done it for nearly a decade.

"So that's a brilliant start to the season from us and we're putting pressure on everyone else already.”

Lennon has ran out of superlatives for winger Forrest who was again the match-winner.

He converted a cross from new boy Mo Elyounoussi and the manager was pleased with their contribution.

Lennon said: “James was our biggest threat all day. His pace, his effort that hit the bar, his running power, everything.

“He scored another brilliant goal and that's seven already and we're only in September. It's a great return already.

“Mo had a very good debut for an hour. He hasn't had a lot of football but he looked fit, fresh and the good player we thought he would be.

“Obviously as we go on we're hoping he'll improve.”

Lennon's only slight concern was the head knock to £7 million centre-back Jullien towards the end of the 1-0 victory.

He clashed heads with Accies striker Marios Ogkmpoe but the Hoops boss expects him to be OK to face Rennes in the Europa League on Thursday.

He said: “He's fine, I've just spoken to him. He thought I was Boris Becker, right enough – but he's alright!

“He should be fine for Rennes.”
