Christopher Jullien sums up Celtic relief as he makes honest 'needed that one' confession

As far as European dead-rubber ties go, there was a lot riding on Celtic's 3-2 win over Lille on Thursday night.

Already some supporters had indicated their intentions to march on Parkhead at the weekend before the club's next domestic game against Kilmarnock on Sunday.

But the team still had a job to do - prove to a restless fanbase that there is still some fight left in a team that manager Neil Lennon admitted were "in a bad place".

They managed that, with Christopher Jullien netting the opener before Callum McGregor's penalty.

Lille responded to both of those goals but not David Turnbull's winner 15 minutes from time.

And Jullien has admitted the wave of relief that washed over him and his team-mates at the full time whistle in a Twitter post.

He said on Friday night: "We ( All the Celtic Fam) needed this one."

The centre-back returned from injury last month right in the middle of a horror run that saw Celtic win just two games in 12 before the resounding victory over their Ligue 1 opposition.

Now he and his Hoops team-mates will be hopeful of stopping the rot in the league starting with Kilmarnock's visit to Celtic Park on Sunday.

Rivals Rangers hold a 13-point lead in the Scottish Premiership, though Celtic have two games in hand.
