Christopher Jullien misses out for Celtic as Nir Bitton starts against Rangers

£7million signing Christopher Jullien misses out for Celtic in the crucial Ne’er Day derby.

The French centre-back smashed his knee against the post in the midweek win over Dundee United and was stretchered off after the clash with the woodwork.

Nir Bitton instead starts against Rangers – and not Shane Duffy – alongside Kris Ajer as Neil Lennon sticks with his in-form strike pairing of Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths.

The manager has also given the nod to Ismaila Soro, who scored against United, while captain Scott Brown starts on the bench.

As expected, Vasilis Barkas remains in goal while Diego Laxalt and Jeremie Frimpong are the wingbacks for a game Celtic must win.

If Rangers emerge victorious, they will open up a massive 19-point lead over their great rivals.

Here is the team in full...

Barkas; Frimpong, Ajer, Bitton, Laxalt; Soro, Turnbull, McGregor, Christie; Griffiths, Edouard.
Subs: Hazard, Duffy, Taylor, Brown, Rogic, Elhamed, Ntcham, Elyounoussi, Ajeti.
