Christopher Jullien injury blow for Celtic as defender faces four months out

Celtic will make a move for a centre back in the January transfer window after Christopher Jullien was ruled out for 'three to four months'.

The big defender was stretchered off during the 3-0 win over Dundee United on Wednesday after colliding with the post and now faces a lengthy absense.

Jullien has struggled with injuries this season and had just returned from a knock when he suffered the problem in Wednesday's win.

It's a massive blow for the Hoops and it leaves them with just Kris Ajer and Shane Duffy as recognised centre backs, as well as midfielder Nir Bitton who fills in.

He told Sky Sports: "He's very important but it's a bad injury so we're going to lose him for quite a period of time, maybe three to four months. It's a hammer blow for us really."

It means Neil Lennon will step up plans to sign cover in the January window to ensure they have plenty of back-up over the coming months until the end of the season.

Celtic were heavily linked with a move for Ben Davies last summer from Preston and could make a return for him.

The Hoops have also reportedly made contact for his Preston team-mate Ben Pearson.
