Christopher Jullien Celtic injury update as Ange Postecoglou refuses to give return timeline

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has revealed he won't be able to count on star defender Christopher Jullien for some time yet.

28-year-old Jullien has not featured for Celtic since the end of 2020, when he injured himself blocking a shot against Dundee United on the 30th December.

Jullien is an important figure for Celtic and a key defensive piece but he is still yet to play under Postecoglou due to his long-term injury.

Stephen Welsh and Carl Starfelt have formed a partnership in recent matches as the gaffer looks to improve his side's leaky defence that still managed to ship two goals despite an overall dominant performance against Hearts in the Premier Sports Cup.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound, Postecoglou can't wait for Jullien to return to first-team action – but admits he does not know when that will be.

The manager said: "He’s working hard. He’s still very much on an individual programme.

“We have to be careful with these long-term injuries. We want to get him back as best we can and for him to feel really comfortable.

"He’s still got a bit of rehab to do so it’ll be a little while before we see him, but we can’t wait to get him back.”
