Christopher Jullien 'agrees' Celtic deal as Hoops settle on fee for Toulouse defender

Christopher Jullien is braced to become a Celtic player after reportedly agreeing a long-term contract with the Scottish champions.

The Toulouse defender has held extensive discussions with the Hoops, according to L'Equipe, and is set to undergo a medical in the next 48 hours.

Record Sport exclusively revealed last night that a deal had been agreed between the two clubs worth up to £8million.

The finer details of the deal are still to be thrashed out but Jullien is close to becoming a Celtic player and filling the void left by Dedryck Boyata's departure for Hertha Berlin.

Neil Lennon was in Paris this week as the club sought to tie up a deal for the 6ft 5in former France U-20 international.

Jullien attracted interest from clubs in Spain, England and Germany but the Hoops have moved quickest in the race to sign him.

The 26-year-old, who has also had spells at Auxerre, Freiburg and Dijon, emerged as a target for Celtic earlier this month and Peter Lawwell and Lennon pushed the boat out for the Frenchman.

Now, should the finer details be agreed and a medical go smoothly he could become the second most expensive signing in Celtic's history after Odsonne Edouard.

However, David Turnbull 's move to Parkhead hangs in the balance after issues arose during the midfielder's medical.

Parkhead bosses are now back in talks with the player and Motherwell to work out the best course of action for the 19-year-old.
