Christopher Biggins has This Morning studio shouting 'Dick' as Phil tries not to laugh

Phillip Schofield had to compose himself during today's This Morning panto as Christopher Biggins cried for Dick Whittington.

Christopher's panto character was chatting to Phil's Buttons and Holly Willoughby's Cinderella when he told them he couldn't find his son, Dick Whittington.

"We haven't seen a Dick, have we Holly?" Phil said.

"No, I certainly have not seen a Dick," Holly replied.

"Steady," Biggins warned, "Let's all shout for Dick."

Phil pinched the bridge of his nose as the studio went up with calls of "Dick!"

Holly joked: "I've always wanted to say this, here goes. It's 12 o'clock and still no sign of Dick!"

Today's show caught up viewers with all the headlines and biggest news, before delving into the festive panto tradition.

Alison Hammond opened the show with BGT champ Jon Courtenay, belting out the Panto Song dressed as the Fairy Godmother.

ITV bosses had teased a "panto mash-up" ahead of today's show, featuring characters including Aladdin, Dick Whittington and Snow White.

Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley has already made an appearance as a witch, and threatened to make a comeback later in the show.

Sheridan Smith was ecstatic to join the cast as Peter Pan, saying she was eager to take part because of the "devastation" wrought on the entertainment industry by Covid.

"Hopefully doing this panto with This Morning will provide some of these people much-needed work and give everyone...hope and laughter," she added.

*This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
