Christophe Berra eyed by Dundee and Queen of the South as pair make move for Hearts defender

Dundee and Queen of the South are both trying to land frozen-out Hearts star Christophe Berra.

The Dark Blues and the Doonhamers are keen to do a deal before the end of the season.

Berra has been training with the Hearts’ reserves since he was told he wasn’t part of Daniel Stendel’s plans.

Both Championship clubs have made contact with Hearts and want to see if a deal can be done.

Partick Thistle were also interested but Firhill manager Ian McCall is trying to bring in Darren Brownlie in during this window.

They have already signed the Queen of the South defender on a pre-contract.

Queen’s would need a replacement lined up before they could let Brownlie go and that is where Berra has come into their thinking.

Dundee had also previously tried to land Craig Wighton from Hearts but manager James McPake hit a brick wall there and he was sent on loan to Arbroath.

It remains to be seen if Hearts were more receptive for a move for Berra.

Dundee should complete the loan signing of Celtic keeper Conor Hazard for the rest of the season.

The Northern Irish cap previously had a spell at Dens Park earlier in the season.
