There are two bank holidays next week on a Monday and Tuesday- meaning a long weekend is in store.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day fall on a weekend this year. Boxing Day will be celebrated on Monday, December 26 while a substitute bank holiday for Christmas Day will be on Tuesday, December 27.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said: "What I'm expecting in the run up to and through Christmas weekend itself is for southern parts to have temperatures near normal, northern parts to be a little bit colder and there will also be some changeable weather coming through so with that you could quiet easily get some wintry weather as we go towards Christmas, mainly towards the north."
