Christmas – ’tis the season to watch telly

Father Christmas - 2010

Christmas telly waits for no man (or woman) it seems after a festive survey revealed that a third of us don’t even switch off the box while tucking into our Christmas dinner. Whether we remain in the same room, the RadioTimes.com poll doesn’t say.

Other revelations: almost a quarter of us will watch more than five hours of TV on Christmas Day, with nearly one in 10 of us gobbling up more than eight hours of the stuff. Imagine how much we watched when it was any good, eh?

Elsewhere in the box of statistical delights, 11% of us say a personal video recorder is their must-have piece of favourite tech. Alas, the much sought after turkey on demand, where your festive nosh will be streamed into your house at the touch of a button – let’s call it, er … Gobblebox – remains some way off.

Half of us think there are more repeats on Christmas Day than there used to be (presumably because there’s more TV to repeat). Just so long as the sausage meat doesn’t keep coming back, we’ll be happy.
