Christmas shoppers evacuated from Scots designer outlet as fire crews called to scene

Dozens of Christmas shoppers have been evacuated from the Livingston Designer Outlet in West Lothian.

The fire alarm was activated shortly after 11am on Saturday December 11 as the centre was packed with customers.

Members of the public were herded towards the exits and pictured standing in the car park as fire marshals secured the scene.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were in attendance after receiving the call at 11.04am.

However, it has since been determined that it was a false alarm.

One shopper said: “It was absolutely packed with people who were clearly doing their Christmas shopping when the fire alarm started going off.

“Everyone quickly made their way outside where we’re all now waiting to get back in. We can’t see any smoke or anything like that so hopefully it’s just a false alarm.”
