Christmas ruined by 'rotten' turkeys as customers complain to Aldi, Tesco and Marks and Spencer

People have taken to social media to share their upset and disappointment after their turkeys were rotten when they came to eat them on Christmas Day.

Eager to get started on their festive feast the family chefs have all opened the packaging from their 'fresh' turkey only to discover a stinky rotten bird inside.

This is something that seems to happen every Christmas and Christmas Day 2021 is no different.

Furious diners have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment.

Claire Woods tweeted at Aldi: "This turkey says it feeds 10 it’s feeding no one it’s rotten!!!! Bought on Tuesday evening and refrigerated since. Husbands fuming."

Emma Durcan was let down by her M&S meat:"Brilliant Turkey crown smells rotten & off thanks @marksandspencer that’s dinner ruined."

V Eade has faced similar disappointment today: "Bleurgh... thanks @marksandspencer for a rotten, foul-smelling turkey allegedly good until 27 December."

Emily Farndon tweeted at Tesco: "Absolutely fuming thanks so very much for a ruined Christmas day removed our Turkey crown that I brought yesterday from its rapper to a horrible pungent smell, the Turkey is off so thanks a bunch."

Eve White took to Twitter to tell Tesco her turkey was rotten: "@Tesco have a turkey for Christmas that is in date until tomorrow, but opened it to find it rotting with a terrible smell. seems that a lot of people have had this same problem???? bought from North Harbour, how do we get our refund?"

Tesco has advised her to "take the packaging and receipt back to the customer service desk when it's open and convenient for you."

Tesco, Aldi and Marks and Spencer have been contacted for comment on the situation.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “We are sorry that a small number of our products did not meet our usual high standards. If customers are not completely satisfied with their purchase, they can return items to their local store with proof of purchase for a full refund.”

The supermarkets have tweeted numerous apologies to those complaining and encouraged customers to get in touch so their complaints can be resolved.
